I was working as a nurse when I became interested in healthcare cybersecurity after our hospital experienced a ransomware attack. The Purdue University Northwest CWCT program offered a specialized healthcare cybersecurity track that was perfect for my background. The instructors understood both the technical and regulatory aspects of healthcare security, which was exactly what I needed. The program’s flexible schedule allowed me to continue working while studying, and the coalition’s connections helped me land an information security role specifically in healthcare. I now work protecting patient data and medical systems, combining my clinical knowledge with my new cybersecurity skills.
